Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso, who was reportedly kicked out of the Paris 2024 Olympics village, revealed that Brazilian soccer player Neymar Junior recently sent her a private message on Instagram. Alonso’s revelation came a day after reports claimed that the organizing committee expelled her from the Summer Games village for allegedly creating an “inappropriate atmosphere.” Speaking to the Paraguayan radio program Aire de Todos, the 20-year-old stated that the former captain of Brazil is a big fan and slid in her DMs, without revealing many details.

“He sent me a DM. That’s all I can say. It was left on the request form. I can’t tell you that here,” Alonso said, as quoted by Fox Sports Mexico.

Regarding her alleged exile from the Olympic Village, Alonso also said that she was never removed or expelled from anywhere, urging people to “stop spreading false information.”

Neymar is expected to miss the start of next Saudi Pro League season as he recovers from a serious knee injury, the Al Hilal coach said on Tuesday. The Brazilian striker suffered the injury in October and missed much of the current campaign, but Al Hilal still won the league for a record 19th time earlier this month. The Saudi league traditionally starts in August and the former Barcelona and PSG star will also miss next month’s Copa America.

“All I know now is that the time given to Neymar to recover, with similar injuries, is approximately 10 to 11 months,” Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus told reporters during pre-season.

Neymar, 32, underwent surgery in Brazil in November to treat a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus damage.

He was carried on a stretcher in tears during Brazil’s 2-0 loss to Uruguay in World Cup qualifying in October after colliding with an opponent.
