Miley Cyrus might have had her best Grammys ever.
The “Flowers” singer, 31, was up for six awards going into the night, and despite her storied career, the singer and actress had never actually won a Grammy Award. That all changed on Sunday night.
But let’s rewind to the red carpet, where her glam evening began.
Cyrus stepped onto the red carpet wearing a barely there gold metal mesh dress with safety pin accents with matching metal panties and Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela gold heels. The custom Maison Margiela naked dress strategically covered Cyrus in all the right places but allowed her many tattoos to peek out.
Cyrus’ stylist Bradley Kenneth shared an Instagram on Monday about her red carpet look with more details on the intricate design, which was created by Maison Margiela creative director John Galliano. “The dress, which required 675 hours of craftsmanship, featured a painstaking arrangement of 14,000 safety pins adorned with french antique beads,” he wrote.
When Cyrus headed inside for the show, she nabbed her first Grammy Award ever — and she wore yet another sexy look. She took the stage (and accepted her award from Mariah Carey for best pop solo performance for “Flowers”) in a beaded and embroidered halterneck jumpsuit by Tom Ford.
She kept the looks coming as she then took the stage to perform her Grammy-winning song in yet another look. Cyrus wore a very Tina Turner-esque silver fringe minidress while singing “Flowers” — which made her ’70s-style hair all the more appropriate. She even threw in a backing track of Turner’s “Proud Mary.”
Hairstylist Bob Recine used Nexxus products to achieve the look. “I’ve been working with Miley for a long time and tonight we wanted to create different than last year, with a style that felt like it had a ’70s, Barbarella feel while still having a modern, punk edge. By creating a big hair look, while still leaving some of the teasing visible, it allows the look to maintain a fresh, sexy feeling,” he tells PEOPLE.
But if you thought Cyrus would slip back into one of her previous looks after that, you’d be wrong. Instead, she changed into a lace bustier and pants with fringe detail and a feathery jacket. She finished her look with strappy black heels. and dangly earrings that matched the fringe on her outfit.
Cyrus made one last outfit change before she accepted the award for record of the year for “Flowers” and it might have been her raciest of the night. She took the stage one last time in a chocolate brown sequin number custom-made by Gucci that was one-shoulder and had a slit cut all the way up to her hip. She even joked before leaving the stage that she maybe “forgot” her underwear!
She took to Instagram on Monday, though, to clarify, though, that she did, in fact, have underwear on, and they were also custom-made by Gucci. “PS I was only kidding…. I had on matching custom @gucci panties🤎 thank you for the head to toe chocolate custom couture @sabatods xoxo you didn’t forget a thing.”
Thanks to “Flowers” and Cyrus’ efforts on her eighth studio album, she was among the most-nominated artists at the 2024 award show with a whopping six total nominations. She earned noms for pop vocal performance, record of the year, song of the year, album of the year and best pop vocal album.
